It is Osprey’s plan to upgrade the level of quality and service offered at each of its courses in retail sales, pro shop, course maintenance and food and beverage. After two years of renovations and upgrades, Osprey Recreational Properties has started the process of taking these four Michigan golf facilities to a new level of quality.

Manistee National Golf & Resort, the flagship resort, offers 36 holes of quality golf on the Cutters Ridge and Canthooke Valley courses. Cutters Ridge, designed by Jerry Matthews, is the younger of the two and features a challenging routing through hardwoods, wetlands, and open meadows. The popular and player friendly Canthooke Valley is fun for all levels of players and families. It features rolling fairways lined with tall grasses, hardwoods, and challenging greens. This resort is ideal for avid golfers, families and small business groups.

The renovations started nearly two years ago with the upgrades and renovations to Manistee National Golf & Resort.  Improvements include upgrades to the meetings and conference rooms, an expanded “cozy” bar room off the lobby with a big screen television and leather furniture and a new outdoor pool and patio complex. The restaurant was upgraded and renamed the Osprey Grille.

This year the improvements continue with the remodeling of rooms and adding wireless internet access to the property. Plans are also being finalized for the addition of new cottages and town homes to the resort.

Black Forest & Wilderness Valley resort near Gaylord is home to the company’s flagship golf course -- Black Forest . Black Forest was an early design by Tom Doak, who is one of the most sought after golf course designers in the world today. Tom has designed such modern classics as Pacific Dunes in Oregon . Black Forest features rolling fairways, small and challenging greens, and old school rugged bunkers that are works of art.

Complementing Black Forest is the popular Wilderness Valley course. The Valley course, designed by former Ryder Cup player and Michigan great Al Wautrus, is more player-friendly than its counterpart. The Valley is well suited to women, seniors and junior players.

The upper level of the clubhouse was completely re-done, with the addition of a new bar area with a Northern Michigan theme that looks out on a new wood deck with a similar theme. The lower level of the clubhouse was converted to an Osprey Grille with popular local chef, Don Steuwer, formerly of the Blue Goose, in the kitchen.

The Medalist Golf Club, near Marshall , another premier Osprey property, is nestled within 275 beautiful wooded acres and untouched marshland. Designed by Bill Newcomb, one of the region’s most recognized architects, this spectacular course is a challenge for all levels of golfers. The back tees measure more than 7,000 yards challenging the better players, while the forward tees measure just over 5,200 yards making it playable for mid to high handicappers as well as women and seniors.

Other improvements include adding a new outdoor pavilion and tent at the Medalist Golf Club in order to accommodate larger group outings, and an Osprey Grille dining facility. 

Ridgeview Golf Course in Kalamazoo is a player-friendly course featuring open and rolling fairways with grape vines intermingling throughout the property, which was a former vineyard. Ridgeview is a parkland design with gently rolling fairways, small green sites, and close walks between holes making it a great place to walk if desired. Ridgeview continues to be an excellent choice for senior players, families, and kids that are wanting to enjoy the game at a relaxed pace and a fair price.

 Minor changes and improvements are also being done at Ridgeview, which will include rerouting some holes and upgrading the grounds.
